Saturday Review

Hi everyone,

Lets review some of the things that we talked about today in class.

not quite :  not really, not yet,  a little, almost
typical :  典型的な

The weather forecast said that it would rain today but when I look outside its not quite raining yet.

Person A :   Is this what you wanted for your birthday?  (Person A holds up a large Mickey Mouse sweater. )
Person B:  That is not quite what I wanted.  I wanted a typical T-shirt, not a Mickey Mouse sweater.

stand out : 目立つ

People who have tattoos in Japan really stand out when they go to the onsen. It is not typical for Japanese people to have a tattoo.  If Japanese people have a large tattoo then it is typical to think that they are a member of the Japanese mafia called Yakuza.
