Today we practiced making sentences. Everyone did a good job making some difficult and creative (創造的な) English sentences. Lets practice some more sentence patterns.
Verb : climb Noun : boat Adjective : various Emotion : depressed (落ち込んだ)
I climbed into the boat and suddenly I felt depressed. I could see various clouds in the sky and it looked like it would rain.
I felt depressed when I saw my boat because I left the cabin window open. It looked like various birds had flown into my boat and made it dirty.
Verb : buy Noun : horse Adjective : ecstatic (有頂天の) Emotion : scared
I feel scared and ecstatic when I ride a horse because they are beautiful and strong animals. I should buy a helmet next time I ride a horse.
If I bought a horse I think my girlfriend would be ecstatic, but I’m scared she might become angry.
A useful sentence pattern is:
I ___(feeling)___ because ____(reason)___.
Example; I feel tired because I didn’t sleep well last night. I feel excited because my vacation is tomorrow.
Remember to listen to the English recordings.
1. Listen to the natural/native speed recording first. Try to understand the general meaning.
2. Next listen to the slower recording and try to understand more.
3. Finally read the handout from class to understand everything. Then listen to the native/natural recording to practice hearing words you could not hear the first time.
