Halloween is a popular holiday celebrated in many places of the world. Halloween is short for “All Hallow’s Eve”. It was originally a holiday to remember the dead. People would go to cemetery’s to light candles and prey to loved ones who have passed away. Halloween is also a harvest festival. People would dress up in scary costumes and light big fires to scare away wandering ghosts.
Today Halloween is a popular holiday for children to dress up in costumes and go Trick-or-Treating. Children go to different houses in their neighborhood and say “Trick-or-Treat” and they usually receive candy and treats. Many people also carve jack-o-lanterns out of pumpkins and place them outside their house.
Adults also celebrate Halloween by dressing up in costumes and going to parties, haunted attractions, or watching scary movies.
