Hello,
Today we practiced ordering food in a restaurant. Lets review some of the common phrases you will hear and use when you go to a restaurant.
Entering Restaurant
Restaurant Greeter : Hello, do you have a reservation? Guest 1 : I do not have a reservation.
Restaurant Greeter : Okay, how many people are in your party?
Guest 1 : There are 3 of us and 1 more person will be coming soon, so 4 people total.
Restaurant Greeter : Alright, would you like to sit at a table or a booth?
Guest 1 : Booth please.
Restaurant Greeter: Okay please follow me.
Sitting At the Booth and Ordering Drinks
Restaurant Greeter: Your server will be named John, he will be here shortly, can I get everyone some beverages?
Guest 1 : I will have ice water please.
Guest 2 : I will have an iced tea please.
Guest 3 : I would like a beer please.
Restaurant Greeter : Okay, can I see your I.D.? Guest 3 : Here you are. Restaurant Greeter : Thank you. Do you want a bottle or draft beer? Guest 3 : I would like a draft beer please. Restaurant Greeter : Okay, I will get those drinks started for you and your server will be here shortly.
Ordering Food
Server : Hello my name is John. I will be your server for this evening. What can I get for everyone?
Guest 1 : I will have a small salad with Italian dressing on the side.
Guest 2 : I will have a grilled club sandwich on wheat bread with no pickles please.
Guest 3 : I will have a steak please.
Server : Okay, what kind of steak would you like?
Guest 3 : I would like the Filet Mignon.
Server : Very good choice, how would you like it cooked?
Guest 3 : I would like it medium rare please.
Server : Okay, is this going to be all together on one check?
Guest 1 : No can we please get separate checks, and can you leave a menu on the table? One of our friends is not here yet.
Server : Okay I will make separate checks and I will leave a menu for your friend.
Finishing the Meal and Paying the Bill
Server : How was everything? Can I get anyone some refills for their drinks?
Guest 1 : No thanks, can we please have our checks?
Server : Sure thing, I will be right back with your checks.
Guest 1 : Can I pay by cash or credit card?
Server : We accept both cash and all major credit cards.
Guest 1 : Do we pay here at the table or do we need to go to the cash register at the front of the restaurant?
Server : Please pay at the front of the restaurant.
Guest 1: Thank you very much. Server : Thank you everyone for coming and have a wonderful day.
