Movie Quiz

Hi everyone. This week lets do another movie quiz. Please listen to the video and guess the two movies that I am talking about. I will also post the dialogue from the last 2 listening exercises below the movie.

January 31st listening exercise dialogue.

This movie is loosely based on a true story.  The story is a about a young beautiful woman who is boarding the first class section of a fancy cruise liner with her mother and her rich fiancé.  The other main character wins his tickets in a card game.  The girl tries to kill herself on a cold night but the young man saves her.  They quickly fall in love.  Then tragedy strikes and the young man gets killed and the girl is saved. What movie is this?

Answer is Titanic.

Movie Number 2.  When a large object threatens to collide with Earth, NASA honcho Dan Truman determines the only way to stop it is to drill into its surface and detonate a nuclear bomb. This leads him to renowned driller Harry Stamper , who agrees to helm the dangerous space mission provided he can bring along his own hotshot crew. Among them is the cocky A.J. who Harry thinks isn’t good enough for his daughter, until the mission proves otherwise. What movie is this?

  • What country uses the most oil in the world?  What industry or section of that country uses the most oil?

The United states uses the most oil.  The United states department of defense uses the most oil of any group or organization in the world.

  • Here is a science question.  What are the coldest and hottest things in the universe?  Where have the hottest and coldest temperatures of the universe been recorded?

The hottest natural things in the universe are supernovas.  100 Billon degrees Celsius.  The coldest thing is the Boomerang Nebula. -273.15 degrees celcius. The hottest temperature ever recorded was created by man in the CERN super collider in Switzerland.  5.5 trillion degrees celcius. The coldest temperature ever recorded was in Italy in an underground laboratory that reached a temperature of -273.144.   

  • Guess the movie that I am talking about.  This movie is based in the future.  Humanity is searching for precious minerals and ore in space.  They find a planet that has a large supply of a very rare ore that is extremely valuable.  The humans decide to take the ore.  This however makes the native population very angry and they fight against the humans to save their planet.  What is the name of the movie?

The movie’s name is Avatar.
